On Saturday May 4, 2019, at approximately 0818 hours, Officer Anthony McSherry, a 17 year veteran of the United States Park Police, suffered a medical emergency and was transported to Fairfax INOVA Hospital. He was evaluated by the emergency room physician and found to have an aortic dissection (tear) and was rushed to the operating room for emergency open heart surgery. After numerous hours, the surgeon was able to repair his aorta and ultimately save his life. He has a very long road of recovery ahead, to include short term intensive care, and long term physical therapy. The U.S. Park Police Fraternal Order of Police is asking for any and all donations to assist Officer McSherry “Mick” in his many challenges ahead after this life changing event.
